Food and wines – Deckhand cook option

Greek cuisine is a Mediterranean cuisine. Contemporary Greek cookery makes wide use of olive oil, lemon juice, vegetables, and herbs, grains and bread, wine, fish, and various meats, including lamb, poultry, rabbit and pork. The most commonly seen grain are wheat, however, barley is also used. Also important are olives, cheese, eggplant (aubergine), zucchini (courgette), and yogurt. Greek desserts are characterized by the dominant use of nuts and honey. Some dishes use filo pastry.

An experienced deckhand cook is always part of the crew during your sailing trip with Summer Breeze Yachts. When you book one of our sailboat, breakfasts and a light lunches (half board option) will be prepared by the deckhand cook.

Your cook will prepare authentic, simple but delicious Greek dishes, but also will compliment them with water, wine, soft drinks and of course snacks. Of course the deckhand cook will also keep the sailboat clean during your sailing trip in the Greek islands.

Your breakfasts and lunches will be prepared using seasonal Mediterranean ingredients, using local vegetables, cheeses, meats and of course wine.

Breakfast

Snacks

Lunch

Starters
– Greek salads every day with the meals and green salad with tuna, corn, sun dried tomatoes, olives, capers etc and .
– Fava (split cheeks) mushed, local sausages fried, cheese pies, spinach pies, string beans salad, saganaki (fried cheese), cretan rusks with tomato feta cheese, parsley, olive oil and olives.
– Eggs + tomato (Greek speciality), baked peppers (vinegar and olive oil), lentils with rice mixed.
– Short macaroni with squids and tomato sauce, carrot salad, olive oil and fresh lemon juice, boiled potatoes salad (onion, parsley, olive oil and vinegar) Boiled potatoes in onion mustard with olive oil and vinegar sauce.
– Sandwiches with cheese, tomato, lettuce
– Home made pizza

Main Courses
– Pork fillets in 3 herbs with lemon sauce with potato puree.
– Pasticcio: Macaroni topped with mince meat and beshamel baked in the oven.
– Imam: Eggplants baked with onion tomato and parsley.
– Chicken wrapped in baking bag with peppers, onion, spices and herbs in the oven.
– Perch fillet baked in dill lemon and spices sauce.

Desserts

– Greek dessert Baklavas, Halva

Beverages

– Water, soft drinks, beer, and house wine at your disposal every day.
